9 Days Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru luxury lodge safari
Day 1: Nairobi - Maasai Mara
After breakfast, depart Nairobi for Maasai Mara Game Reserve through the Great Rift Valley .Our journey to Maasai Mara takes us via the scenic Great Rift Valley in Kenya. Along the way we stop to admire the breathtaking views, before climbing the western side of the Rift Valley. Then we traverse the Loita Plains entering Maasai territory, where we pass Maasai warriors in bright red robes, tending their livestock along the road. Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. Later proceed for the afternoon game drive until sunset in search of the Big Five. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight inside the park.
Day 2: Full day in Maasai Mara national park
The whole day will be spent in exploring the reserve. Have morning and evening game drives. Wherever you go in the vast Maasai Mara Park you will see plenty of wildlife, such as Maasai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffalos, zebras and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot, but reasonably common. Late in the evening return to the lodge for dinner and overnight inside the park.
Day3: Full day in Maasai mara national reserve
After breakfast proceed on a full day of game viewing within the reserve. The landscape here is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills. The reserve is the best park for game in Kenya as it has an extensive road and track network which allows for close range viewing and photography. Break for your picnic lunch at the hippo pool, looking out for hippos and crocodile. Dinner and overnight at the lodge inside the park.
Day4: Full day in Maasai Mara national reserve
After breakfast, proceed for tracking of game with your guide. All the big five may be seen namely elephants, buffalo and lion; the sighting of rhino and leopard which make the total five in number, very shy and elusive. Break for your leisurely picnic lunch at the lodge. Have an afternoon game drive then late in evening return to the lodge for dinner and overnight inside the park.
Day 5: Full day in Maasai Mara national reserve
Spend the whole day in the Maasai Mara plains doing game drives and on the look out for herds of wildebeests crossing the crocodile-infested Mara River. Optional evening visits to Maasai cultural village to learn their culture and dances. Each visit cost USD35 per person and you pay this directly. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight inside the park.
Day6: Maasai Mara national reserve
After breakfast we will proceed on a full day of game viewing within the reserve .Hot-air balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains teeming with wildlife. These Masai Mara balloon trips can be arranged at extra cost. Overnight dinner at the lodge inside the park.
Day 7: Maasai Mara - Lake Nakuru national park
After breakfast, depart Mara for Lake Nakuru. Lunch at the lodge followed by an extensive afternoon game drives in the park. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approx 400 other species of birds visiting the lake. Also, many species of game can be found in the park including the introduced Rothschild's giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game. Dinner and night at the lodge inside the park.
Day8: Full day in Lake Nakuru national park
After early morning breakfast proceed to the park for your game drive. Lake Nakuru National Park, in Kenya, is known as an important wildlife sanctuary for some of Africa's endangered species, especially black and white rhinos, and Rothschild Giraffes. The game reserve is also home to lions, waterbuck, buffalo, leopard and baboons, which we keep an eye out for on our game drive. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight inside the park.
Day9: Lake Nakuru - Nairobi
After early morning breakfast proceed for an extensive morning game drive in lake Nakuru national park known for its millions of flamingoes and other water birds, the only park in Kenya where you will be able to see rhinos in black and white. Leave Nakuru after lunch for a drive to Nairobi arriving mid or late afternoon with lots of sweet memories to catch your flight back.
